Treatments we provide

The Trauma Recovery Centre provides individual therapy for people experiencing symptoms of psychological trauma following an accident, an assault or abuse. The choice of which therapy is used depends partly on whether a particular therapy has been stipulated in advance by a referring agency and partly on your own personal characteristics and preferences. In the sections below is an outline of the main features of each therapy.

EMDR and CBT

The Centre specializes in the provision of two psychological therapies: EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing and CBT: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

EMDR and CBT are both recommended by the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence as the best treatments available for psychological trauma.

These therapies are both well researched and have both been proven to produce significant reductions in the symptoms of trauma, such as intrusive images, nightmares, avoidance, anger, anxiety and depression.

More detailed description of these treatments and complementary therapies here.

Locations for EMDR and CBT Therapy
