About us The Trauma Recovery Centre has one director, and several consultants and advisers. The Centre covers a broad geographical area. The director of The Trauma Recovery Centre is highly qualified and experienced in EMDR and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. The director is Sue Thorogood. Professional background of the director Sue
Thorogood Sue qualified as a children and families social worker and worked as a Systemic Family Therapist and Gestalt Play therapist with children who had been physically, sexually or emotionally abused. She retrained in psychological therapies over 9 years ago and has worked in private practice. Sue has contracts with a number institutions and with The Centre, a private clinic in Hereford. Sue has over 20years experience of working therapeutically with children, adolescents and adults. She has practiced as a therapist in a variety of settings including social services departments, adult mental health, Family Services Units in London, voluntary sector, Colleges and with police authority staff. Sue specializes in the therapeutic treatment of childhood and adult trauma, child sexual abuse and stress management. Sue works extensively with the police and members of the armed services. Sue has provided consultancy and training for professionals and students on domestic violence, child sexual abuse and stress management. She has completed all 3 levels of EMDR training and specifically EMDR for working with children. Sue is an EMDR Europe Approved Practitioner and member of EMDR UK & Ireland Association. Consultants The Trauma Recovery Centre is fortunate in having access to a number of Consultants, who are specialized in particular aspects of trauma recovery, and who act in an advisory capacity to enhance the quality of the clinical work.
